The Center for Agriculture and Rural Development (CARD) at Iowa State University is the nation's leading agricultural policy research center. CARD researchers develop economic and environmental estimates for use by Congress and others. The economic model of the agricultural sector, estimated jointly with the University of Missouri, feeds economic variables into the CARD environmental baseline modeling system to track environmental progress in agriculture. CARD researchers have expertise in the analysis of agricultural and environmental policy options at the watershed, regional and national levels. CARD is a leader in the integration of agricultural resource databases with environmental computer models. Its integrated modeling system is used to estimate the effects of changes in land use and agricultural management practices on indicators of economic and environmental health.
