Stephen Ogle is an ecosystem ecologist in the Natural Resource Ecology Laboratory (NREL) at Colorado State University. He began studying ecological systems as an undergraduate, evaluating plant-animal interactions in forest systems. From this experience, he entered graduate school at the University of Wyoming, where he studied the ecosystem impact of exotic plants in mixed grass prairie, using a combination of field experiments and simulation modeling. Currently, he works with Keith Paustian at NREL, refining U.S. national inventory methods for modeling greenhouse gases fluxes between agricultural soils and the atmosphere. His research focuses on estimating the impact of land use and management on these fluxes to better understand how much current and future practices can mitigate greenhouse gas emissions.
