Michael Thompson is an associate professor in the Department of Agronomy at Iowa State University. His Ph.D. in soil genesis is from Ohio State University. He specializes in soil mineralogy and micromorphology. His current research focus is in soil mineralogy, especially an investigation of the formation and transport of colloidal organomineral complexes, their impact on soil morphology, and their behavior in ecosystems.
