Jinhua Zhao is an assistant professor in the Department of Economics at Iowa State University. His M.S. in agricultural economics is from the University of Guelph, where he received the Distinguished Thesis award. He holds a Ph.D. in agricultural and resource economics from the University of California-Berkeley. He specializes in natural resource and environmental economics, trade and environment, real option theory, technology adoption, and dynamic optimization and structural dynamic estimation. Recent research has focused on water quality valuation, emission permits trading, and issues of implementation of carbon sequestration.
